A small variety of birds on the Pasty Cam today, starting with this Eagle on the hunt in Skanee, snapped by Nancy Haun. That’s quite a capture, with that Eagle eye focused intently on whatever it had spotted for its next meal. I sure hope it wasn’t Nancy he was eyeing UP.
The next photo comes to us from Kevin Dunham, who spotted this small flock of turkeys on his way home from Manistique last week. When he first spotted them, there were three Toms fanned out, but after making a u-turn to go snap the photo, only one was still strutting proudly in the bunch. I always chuckle when I see them all fanned out like that, because the hens in the group don’t seem at all impressed, as they keep on doing what they’re doing, like they aren’t paying any attention to those males all puffed out like that.
These Mourning Doves on the wire were captured by Tom Bouwkamp in Laurium. They look to be quite content hanging out on the lines there, almost like they were posing, hoping someone would notice them and snap their photograph. I’m not familiar with either, but isn’t there a song and a movie called, “Bird on a Wire”?
We wrap UP today with 2nd Sandbar Productions – Keweenaw Sauna Stories: Highlights from Copper Country Sauna Week 2025. Their introduction to the video says: “The sauna fire burns hot! This year, Keweenaw Sauna Stories hit the road during the Copper Country Sauna Tour. Sauna culture in the Keweenaw continues to kindle, opening wide the (sauna) door for new stories and new experiences. After coffee and nisu post-tour interviews, we warmed our fingers and toes at Takka Saunas - Portage for more storytelling!”

That eagle, wah!! Nice, Nancy. I love watching turkeys and we get a lot of mourning doves in our yard. I love their little song. One of my favorites. Thanks to all of you.

Nice! Especially the Bald Eagle pic with that glaring Raptor eye. I’ve been hearing Mourning Doves for several weeks and I love their soothing sounds that they make.

Hi Nice picture of the eagle. However, in the next one turkey was mooning us.

Happy Earth Day folks...let's take care of our beautiful planet!
"Knowing that you love the earth changes you, activates you to defend and protect and celebrate. But when you feel that the earth loves you in return, that feeling transforms the relationship from a one-way street into a sacred bond."
Thoroughly enjoyed the sauna stories, especially the fellow at the 5.7 mark talking at smoke saunas. I was introduced to them in Finland maybe 25 years ago. Everyone comes out covered in soot.
I have to be careful to not watch those directly on YouTube. I start clicking on the next one and I sucked down the rabbit hole all night.
