H. Donn de Yampert headed north in the Keweenaw to check out the ice situation in Lake Superior. He snapped these shots last weekend in Eagle River. Looks like the the snow has melted and the ice is gone. That photo of the rocks all wet like that makes me want to get out and do some rock hounding. But I may have to wait on that, as there was a Winter Storm Warning posted for possible more snow as I was preparing these notes. The only consolation is that IFwe do get more snow, it won’t last long. Hopefully the temperatures will keep getting warmer and melt it in a day or two. In the meantime, enjoy the looks of Spring in Donn’s pictures!
Visit Keweenaw has a video short celebrating the 85th Anniversary of Isle Royale National Park for us here today and they suggest you discover yourself and a deeper connection to the land on Isle Royale this year. I love the rock picture. I love Eagle River, waterworks and Gratiot Park, but those pesky rocks you have to navigate. Ugh! Give me Great Sand Bay, Bete Grise, or Big Traverse. There's some beautiful white sand. Gotta love the Keweenaw. There's beaches for everyone.
The first pic looks more like Eagle Lake, it’s so calm. Nice video too, but I was just getting into it when it ended. I thought it was a mistake???

I'm drooling over the rocks!!
Happy Birthday Isle Royale...there were Northern Lights the last two nights...last night was sorta cloudy...but there were still pink and green clouds!

Put simply, Eagle River is one of the best places to stay and visit in the Keweenaw. I spent many years visiting the Treganowans when I came over from the UK.
