Donna MacIntosh is a big fan of the webcams around the area and she recently saved a few shots from them to share, starting with one from the Michigan Tech Ripley webcam. These brave young people went swimming in the Portage Canal, with snow still covering the ski hills at Mont Ripley and were caught on the cam.
The next three pictures are also webcam shots. In order of appearance...the Rock Harbor Channel webcam, Sunset Bay Campground webcam and the Michigan Tech Bridge webcam. I was surprised that the Rock Harbor Channel looks to be ice free, with a bit of snow and ice still hugging the shoreline and also surprised that the Sunset Bay webcam still was showing snow on the shore there (I’m sure that’s melted more now).
Donna’s last two photos were taken at her friend, Cindy’s home (Hi LOU!). A regular visitor, that she has named Foxy Roxy. This fox comes and sits on her deck even, waiting for a treat of peanuts that Cindy puts out for the birds. Foxy also has an otter friend that it plays with, down by the water. I can only imagine how fun it is to watch them frolicking and chasing each other.
Speaking of fun watching critters, we join Get to Know Nature enjoying the wildlife that comes around when winter is winding down and turning into spring.

Brrrrrr
The Sunset Bay camera is a live feed and it records the video. You can back up the display as much as 12 hours into the past.
Speaking of the Bridge cam... Yesterday was an overcast, kinda blah, day, but if you missed it, there was a fantastic sunset. Reasonable if many didn’t catch it since it lasted only 5 minutes. This video is a one minute time-lapse. Spoiler alert, it starts at the 00:15 second mark. Apologies for the long boring ending but every sunset recording deserves a proper “fade out”. I did nothing to change or enhance the colors.
A nice set of pix, Ladies! And the video was great. It’s always so nice to see the world come out of it’s winter hibernation. Thanks for the cool sunset link, Mary!

Hi I have to say I'm glad that I don't see snow outside here in Jackson. I applaud the young people for their sisu.
With regard to the fox and the otter playing, I've never heard of interspecies friendship. Are you sure they aren't sparring for territory?

Great pictures, Donna. Had to be fun seeing that little fox come to eat. I think they're such cute little animals.
D.A., that video is awesome.

HUGE aurora alerts!!
STRONG GEOMAGNETIC STORM: A strong G3-class geomagnetic storm is underway on April 16th following the arrival of a "cannibal CME." If current conditions persist, auroras could become visible across Canada and northern-tier US states during the night of April 16-17.
Nice pics & video!! Looks like Heikki Lunta might still be hanging around!!??
Deb, are you secretly doing the dance, I know how much you love that snow!! :=))
