The Lee A. Tregurtha and the John J. Boland pass by each other, arriving and departing in Marquette Harbor. Laurie Bashaw was on hand to capture the two freighters, some of the first of many to begin visiting the Harbor once again for the shipping season. It’s nice to see the big boats on Lake Superior once again for all us boat nerds to enjoy. Laurie said it was a treat to see two of the boats at once like this in the Lower Harbor Park as they were enjoying a walk on a sunny day.
Laurie’s bottom photo was snapped in the Meijer parking lot in Marquette. That’s her hubby, Ed Korpi standing next to the mountain of snow from the clean-up after another dumping of snow recently. Some of the funny comments this photo received were naming the snow pile, Mount Meijer and another asking why Ed didn’t climb the mountain and plant a flag on top!
We wrap up this day with a video from Living in Michigan about hidden places in Michigan you didn’t know about. The lead-in to the video says: “Michigan is full of surprises. Sure, everyone knows about the Great Lakes, Sleeping Bear Dunes, and Mackinac Island, but what about the hidden places that even lifelong Michiganders don’t know exist? From crystal-clear hidden springs to eerie caves with dark legends, I'm giving insight into 10 hidden places in Michigan that a lot of people don’t know about. Let’s get to it.”

Beautiful pictures, love them! I highly recommend the Sunset Cruise out of Copper Harbor going out into the shipping lanes of Lake Superior. If there is a freighter passing by it ends up being a freighter chaser cruise. We had the opportunity to chase down the Mesabi Miner. Sailing along it's side for a mile or so up close!

Great pictures, Laurie! It's always such a treat to see the freighters, and especially 2 at the same time. Once when we were in St.Ignace, we caught two freighters passing each other under the bridge. That was so exciting. And it's happened many times. I can imagine Laurie's thrill at seeing this.

Nice set that floats your boat! I’ve been to a few of those places in the video including the only waterfall in the LP; Ocqueoc Falls, although I wouldn’t call it a waterfall. It’s a river and the falls are about a 1 foot drop. Somewhat disappointing after a 4 hour drive to see them.
