Donna MacIntosh and her friend Cindy (Hi LOU!) went out for a spin recently and ended up behind Culver’s in Houghton, on top of a hill there to check out the view. Donna said there are lots for sale up there for building sites and the view is outstanding. She snapped a few photos to share, the first two recognizable with the Portage Lake Lift Bridge and Mont Ripley. Then the third photo is looking toward Hancock and Quincy Hill, with the bottom photo looking up the Sharon Avenue corridor in Houghton. I can only imagine what the view is like when the fall colors are out!

Today’s video from Steve Brimm was recorded at Fort Wilkins on windy, wintry day...which believe it or not, winter returned to the Keweenaw the beginning of last week, sounding and looking just like this, with snow days on Monday and Tuesday.

I used to play this joke on people;
I would give them a phone number
and tell them it was a very important
call and to ask for Pete Mause.
When they asked what it was about, I
told them that I had no idea.
The phone number was to a local
greenery/garden center.
(Get it…Peat Moss?)
Some fell for it, others saw through it right away.

What a view from up there. I'll have to take a
drive up there to see for myself. Really nice
