The weather here in the Keweenaw has been up and down, snowy and frosty, cloudy and dry, you never know what to expect. The old saying, ‘If you don’t like the weather, just wait a few minutes’, is perfect for the past week or so. Barbara Bouwkamp captured some shots with the Hoar Frost clinging to trees, leaves, and even the Hancock City steps. All beauties, but my favorite is the stairway. Just make sure you hold on to the railing going up or coming down. This must be Mother Nature’s was of easing us into winter, after the beautiful colors of fall have disappeared. You have to admit, ready for winter to arrive or not, the snow/frost covering does make things cleaner, brighter and pretty again.

Steve Brimm always finds a way to calm your mind...and today’s video is no exception. He shared a quote from Clarissa Estes with this moment in time: “Ours is not the task of fixing the entire world all at once, but of stretching out to mend the part of the world that is within our reach.” I hope this mends your Tuesday and gives you a few moments of peace and tranquility.

All very nice pictures, but the road one
grabs me. Thanks for sharing.

Nice pix and video!
Just before Halloween they were showing scary
movies and one of them was The Exorcist.
The first pic reminds me of the staircase that
the priest fell down at the end of the movie.
I still get chills watching that flick.

The first picture looks like an accident waiting to happen! I agree with Deb about the road picture - just makes you want to go down that road and see what you can see! Especially on the Eve of Opening Day! Be safe out there!

I'm curious where these steps are? I thought they were the ones at the foot of the Lift Bridge but Google Street View tells me no.
Stairs

D.A. (Midwested) Those are the steps at the foot of
the Lift Bridge.

Click on this link...We featured them on the Pasty
Cam back on June 1, 2005

Thanks Mary,

The Google Street View pic I posted is from July 2018. It matches the 2005 photos. But the most recent one from this week are clearly different.

Are the steps from this week the same location?

There is a blue handrail and the masonry work is different, but the top looks similar. I seem to remember a story from a year ago that they were rebuilt but I can't find the Mining Gazette article. (But I DID stumble across the report of the homicide at the Dog House tonight! Geesh!)

D.A. (Midwested) The steps in this post above are different steps, in a different location in Hancock. I'm not certain of their exact location, though.

Nice eye, D.A.
