Debbie Jarve has a way of making the first snow beautiful, even if it is a bit too early for most folks. She captured this sunrise at Swedetown, pinking up the sky, while the ground is white and the ponds have ice on the surface. So pretty. Then the snow on the trees and the red berries on the bushes in front of them. Another eye pleaser. But her third shot, there’s just something about reflection photos that captures my interest. Here again, we’re lucky Debbie works along the Portage Canal and always has her camera ready to capture scenes like this. Outstanding!

And to top it all off... Debbie recorded a video of the snow falling with big lovely snowflakes on the Houghton side of the Portage Lake Canal. There’s no sound on this video... probably because big ole flakes like that falling, don’t make a sound.

Awesome! The third one is my favorite and
that video is so relaxing to look at.

Forgot to remember the Fitz that went down
on this day 48 years ago. It's a day that
none of us will forget. RIP to that
beautiful ship and the brave 29 men who went
down with their it.

Beautiful pix and I did hear a sound
that was something like an occasional
wave splashing or a breeze blowing in the vid.
But you’ll have to turn up the volume.

…and thanks for the reminder, Deb.

Nice relaxing video and those flakes are lovely . . . right now in November . . . but not so much in April or May, eh!
Hard to believe 48 years have passed since the demise of the Fitz. And thanks for the reminder Deb, and Alex too for remembering Ed (Eddyfitz).

Hi
Good to remember the Edmund Fitzgerald. And Eddyfitz
who shared his thoughts on this page.

Personally, I prefer the videos without music. The
natural sounds of wind, wave & birdsong are fine, as
is an explanation of what we're seeing.

GORGEOUS pix and vid...

The Edmund Fitzgerald....Cheryl Rozman's Dad,
Ransom Cundy was on that Ship. Cheryl went to
Canada and the USA to get laws passed, that did not
allow anyone to take anything but pictures. That's
sacred burial ground.

Cheryl has also passed on...what a party when she
got home to her Daddy.

God bless the remaining friends and relatives of the 29 Lost Souls. That was such a tragic day for the Fitz and a terrible storm across the U.P. I remember the impact clear over to Houghton. One can still see remaining things downtown.
