With the warmer weather this past few weeks, Beth Jukuri has been itching to get out for a ride on her bike, but her first photo gives you an idea of the condition of her road. That’s because she lives right near the Sturgeon River in Chassell, which has had some considerable flooding. Fortunately, her home and their barn are on high enough ground that it doesn’t affect them. So, Beth just loads up her bike and heads to Houghton for a ride on the bike trails there. Check out the flowers she saw along the way. I could only name the daffodils. I have no clue what the pretty blue ground-cover flowers are, nor do I know what the beautiful red berries are, but it sure is nice to see colors sprouting like this. If you know what I don’t know, please chime in!

Another sign of Spring arriving is the Isle Royale Queen 4 returning to Copper Harbor. Steve Brimm was on hand to record the momentous occasion of the Queen’s returneth. Welcome home Isle Royale Queen 4!

Glad to see yoopers enjoying sunshine and flowers.
The spring wildflowers are pretty much past down
here in Jackson, Mich. This is because the trees
are leafing out and the sun isn't getting to the
forest floor like it used to. But no tragedy, the
flowers are designed to take advantage of the
light while it is here. They even "take turns",
with one kind (e.g., trout lily) in bloom and then
done followed by a different one (e.g., trillium).
The overlap period, when some are winding down and
others are starting up, is glorious.
