Sometime Friday, during our St. Patrick’s Day storm, Laurie Bashaw and hubby Ed Korpi took a drive to check out what the Big Lake was doing in Marquette Harbor. They weren’t disappointed, since there was plenty of wave action going on, splashing, crashing, including some ice mixed in with all that Lake Superior water. You can just make out the Presque Isle Harbor Breakwater Light in the first and fourth photo with all the snow swirling around at the same time as the waves were rocking and rolling.

The only thing they were disappointed in, was that Laurie wished they had been dressed for the weather, with snowpants and such, then they would have ventured further. The next day was windy and snowy, too, but they figured it wasn’t wise to head to Marquette with white-out conditions.

Also in the Marquette area, 906 Images was out and about filming the wave action at Black Rocks. The lead-in to their video said the following: “Lake Superior was kicking even more today!! 40+mph winds with close to 15' waves at some points and on and off snow squalls blowing sideways made for some pretty scenery.” Plenty of wave, wind and water sounds, too, so turn up the volume if you want to hear it all!

Such brave souls venturing out in that weather.
