There’s always something magical about the sunrise, but when it’s on the shores of Lake Superior, it makes everything glow. Frances Czapski from Photography by Frances captured the beauty of the moments just after sunrise on Whitefish Bay at Whitefish Point. Each picture showcases a slightly different scene of the beauty and quietude of that morning with the blue sky sporting just a few clouds.

Frances captures the moments we may otherwise miss and caps it all off with a photo of an icicle, instants before it fell off the tree branch. It actually held the shape of the branch, needles included. Nature at its finest!

The sunrise video from Frances was on a different day, with no sun and gray skies. The sound of the water washing ashore and the ripple waves moving through the icy waters is like an orchestrated dance. Make sure you have your speakers turned on for this one.
