Earlier this week I mentioned that that Pasty Cam has gone to the birds, well today is the third in our returning Bird series. Debbie Jarve found more than the deer at their usual gathering spot in Eagle River, recently, she also captured some shots of a Tom Turkey, all puffed up and proud. I’m not sure who he’s showing off for, if there were a few female turkeys around, also or if he was just trying to impress the deer herd. Whoever he was primped for he sure was strutting his stuff. Check out the colors on his head. When this happens it indicates that Tom is either excited or agitated. Maybe he was happy to be in the midst of the deer or maybe he was agitated with them for some reason, only Mr. Tom can tell for sure.

We’re back at Whitefish Point with Frances Czapski again today for the sounds of Spring as the waves wash the remaining ice chunks back and forth on the shores of Lake Superior. It’s great to see the rocks along the shore again, too.

What a strange planet! Those deer in #1 have
turkey-jerky written all over their faces.

These are really great pictures. How lucky
to find that turkey there. There were only
deer when we went.

It was fun watching the ice in the video.
And it's always fun to hear the sound of the
lake.

I'm sure Tom was ticked at the deer. When I lived
in Baraga, and fed everything....the Tom's Harem
would come in and eat, and Tom would just strut
back and forth between his ladies and the deer.
When the girls got done, THEN Tom would let the
deer in. And ONLY then.

He's not too wilded up tho...his "snood" is still
down. His beard is just beautiful.

Really fun birds to watch.

And I wanna pick agates sooooo bad and I can't.
Sniff.
