906 Images is our Pasty Camist Photographer today, with a few shots from Marquette. We start with a snowy shot of the South Ore Dock that was once used to load iron ore into the freighters that sail on the Great Lakes. The newer, working ore dock is on the north side of the Harbor.

The next photo of the South Ore Dock can only be taken twice a year when the sun rises down the middle of the ore dock there in Marquette Harbor. 906 Images said that finally, after 44 years of living he captured his first “OreHenge” picture, adding that it was cold at 2° with a -14° windchill, but there were still 50 or more people there to witness the event!

The third shot, was described like this: “Sometimes beauty pops up where you least expect it. On my way to capture waves, I turned around and saw this opening between the snow covered pines and I didn't have time to switch lenses, so I grabbed my cell before the clouds and snow took over.” A good example of why we need to slow down and check out our surroundings so we don’t miss the “good stuff”.

We take a short drone aerial look at the South Ore Dock, with the sun rising, but not down the middle like today’s photo, but off to the left more. Nice to see the dock from above, along with the sunrise looking so golden and beautiful in the Harbor.

What gorgeous pictures. In its own way,
winter pictures are just as pretty as fall.
And I love the video also.

That kid is so amazing. He's that young man from
Baraga, that after high school, got some car
company to give him a car to use for the next year,
while he visited all 50 states. He stayed at
stranger's homes for his tour. He's done over 1000
sunrise photos, he's done a TED talk, he owns U.P.
Supply in Marquette....if that's not a go getter, I
don't know what is. He is just amazing.....and I
don't even know the kid! He's just impressive. I
ordered a "Watch more Sunrises" hoody..got stickers
with it....so cool......

That 2nd is a once a year special.
And then only if you're lucky with the weather.
Beautiful.

Oh how i miss Marquette! The OreHenge picture is spectacular! As D. A. (Midwested) said - it's not just being there at the right day & time, but if it's clear enough. Beautiful video too! Thanks 906 & Mary!

Hi
The Marquette ore dock is the January picture on my
wall calendar, with pancake ice in the foreground.
