Suyeon Griffin and her daughter made a trek to Mackinac Island recently for a mother/daughter hike around the island. She said they hiked for 3 hours and were able to enjoy so much of the island without crowds. Arch Rock was one of their stops, along with Fort Mackinac and a look around main street, including the marina area. How strange to see few, if any people, but nice to explore without the legion of tourists around.

The video that Suyeon made chronicles their adventure from start to finish, with information about their trip there, so be sure to join them on this fun adventure. If you’d like to see more of Suyeon’s Upper Michigan excursions, be sure to click on the red “subscribe” square in the bottom right corner of the video and you’ll know when she posts new content. I had no idea the commercial ferry access to Mackinac Island was so frequent during the winter months, 3 times a day except Sundays. I knew about the snowmobile access when/if the lake freezes over sufficiently but I'd always envisioned living on the Island during the winter was a bit like staying at the "Overlook Hotel" except with more legroom.

What a great time to avoid all the pedestrian, bike, and horse drawn traffic jams and Island grid-lock. Just kidding... sort of. Very nice video with great views of so many places with very few people. Not to mention when you do accidentally step on some horse road apples they'll hopefully be frozen, just watch out for the rising steam and you'll be OK.

Spring is trying to bust out "down" here but we had a couple inches of sloppy wet stuff yesterday.
