Melanie Hakala Rossi and her snowshoeing friends went on an adventure along the Jacobsville Sandstone walls this weekend. They found both ice and sand on the shoreline there, but Melanie said it was mainly exposed Sandstone, that wasn’t frozen. Pretty amazing for mid-January. I’ve heard reports that we’re at least 100” behind the normal snowfall for this time of year. I just hope this doesn’t mean we’ll be still having snowstorms in May.

For a normal “taste of winter” here in the U.P., check out today’s video from Jake Heitman. It was filmed during snowier times.

Nice video. Winter does have it's moments...

Many people don't like winter, but I see the
beauty in it, just like all the other seasons.
Isn't it wonderful to be able to walk under a
frozen waterfall!? Wonderful video!

Beautiful pictures and video! Thanks Melanie & Jake!

Used to be more of a fan of Winter when we had our 4WD Silverado! Now my spousal unit uses a motorized wheelchair that isn't good on ice & snow and neither is the wheelchair van we had to trade the Silverado in for. But that doesn't mean pictures like this don't show the beauty of a landscape covered in pure white, reflecting light in the gloomy days.

JBuck, I saw, in a segment on Michigan
Under the Radar, that the state parks have a off-
road wheelchair to loan out. Still could be
problems (like keeping warm), but, just so you
know.

Thanks Kathyrn Laughlin (Kathyl)! Those track chairs are awesome! Transferring into it could be a challenge but they look great!
