Always looking for a good way to exercise both her pups and herself, Judy Byykkonen started training her Labradoodle, Zelda for Skijoring last winter and took her out just the other day, for her first run this winter. They did the complete Swedetown Dog Loop, which Judy was pleased that Zelda did really well, as she is much tamer this year and she listens better. I chuckled when she said that she didn’t chase any squirrels this time or run Judy into any trees, so that’s an improvement. Check out that sign, it made me laugh, “Fling poop off trail”. It just sounds so funny, but is a good reminder, because I’m sure it’s quite unpleasant to ski through dog-do.

The frost on the trees there was pretty amazing, looking like prickly thorns, but white and icy. Again, a beautiful display by mother nature, one that will change quickly, so snapping photos like Judy did preserves it for enjoying much longer.

We get a short taste of what Skijoring is like with Zelda in the lead, on Judy’s video here today. Looks like fun and Judy said it’s a workout for both of them.

and have hands. ;>)

With regard to skiing over poop, it's not so much
that it'd be icky but that, like a clump of
ordinary dirt, it would catch on your ski. That
could make you jerk to a sudden halt on one foot,
maybe lose your balance.
