Brenda Leigh headed out on a hike recently, dubbed the mushroom hike on the high trail at Monocle. She said as he walked along, she had a feeling like something was spying on her. The weather was gloomy and it hailed like crazy for a while. Then she stumbled upon the odd looking critter in the first two photos and knew what hd been keeping an eye on her hiking by. Perfect spooky little odd-fellow for the eve of Halloween. Actually, he’s kind of cute and he was crafted by Brenda or an unknown hiker who left him on the trail for others to check out, using hail for his eyes and an acorn for his face. What an interesting mushroom kind of a guy.

Brenda’s bottom photo was taken by Monocle Lake. Check out the bench there on the shoreline. Wouldn’t it be great to be “benched” here, so you could take some time to sit quietly and contemplate whatever it is you want from life. I don’t know about you, but I never seem to have the time to just sit and do nothing but gaze at the calmness surrounding me there on that bench.

We join Life in the UP, for a listen, to what snow sounds like. It’s amazing what there is out there to hear in the quiet.

Thanks Brenda! Have never been to the Monocle Lake lakeside - we are always looking down from the Mission Hill Cemetery. But i agree with UC - beautiful site to enjoy the last of the fall colors.
