With the leaves changing and Autumn full upon us here in the Copper Country, Melanie Hakala Rossi knew it was time for a visit to the Hungarian Falls in the Hubbell area. The day of her visit, plenty of leaves had already fallen, blanketing the trail to the falls. Her first photo reminds me of the “yellow brick road”, only the U.P. version, the “red maple leaf road”.

Melanie shares pictures of the upper and the middle falls, along with the view looking out toward Torch Lake. I love the way she framed everything with the different leaves and branches and in the bottom photo, the yellow of the leaves that line the way to the lake. Pure Michigan, pure beauty!

We have an interesting clip for today’s video, from back in 1985. It’s from Wood TV8, following Dick Evans, who saw much of the beauty of the Upper Peninsula on his annual autumn visits for "On The Michigan Road." Note how the trail to the falls looks to be a bit more difficult than it is now, with a few trees to climb over on the way. Neat to see the difference in technology from then to now.

Beautiful! I've got those same pictures, only
in the spring. These definitely look framed.
The 2nd and 3rd are my faves. Beautiful time
of year to hike up there for sure.
