George C. Bailey recently took a voyage to Arch Rock in Eagle Harbor Township, with a friend as his guide. All I know about the location of this rock, is near Eagle Harbor, off shore, I think it’s actually north of Eagle Harbor, going toward Copper Harbor. It is surrounded by rocky shores and mostly private property, so the only way to get a good look at this interesting rock formation is by boat or kayak. I bet in a kayak, you’d be able to paddle right through the arch.

I enjoyed seeing Esrey Park from the water, too. You’d never even know the park was there.
And George’s last photo, the freighter off in the distance. The plume of smoke coming from the freighter’s stack makes this a classic Lake Superior photograph.

Today’s video is a drone aerial over and around another Arch formation here in the U.P., this one a bit more well known and visited by way more people as they tour around Mackinac Island, Arch Rock.

Good Lord...what an amazing set, Mr. Bailey!

Thanks for the tour George! Wasn't aware the arch was even there - and with the high water levels you'd think it would be less visible now.

Who knew!!

But I found it... Lake Arch at Eagle Harbor

Lake Arch

Apparently the local geologists call it "Lake Arch". According to the linked article there's also one at Bare Bluff.

Sorry, been a busy week since we got back so I didn't see this until just now. Below is a video link you all might be interested in....

Michigan - Arch Rock on Mackinac Island

Thanks Capt. Paul. The video quickly linked me to Dr. Nat's latest series of videos. I watched them all. Too bad about the high wind audio interference in a couple of them but I still enjoyed them all. It was interesting that even though I had trouble understanding some sections, Youtube's closed captioning was pretty much doing a good job. Looks like a wireless lapel microphone is in your near future.
