Kristen Nichols Loescher was raised UP here locally, but lives away from the area and was just recently “home” for a visit. They spent Sunday afternoon exploring in Eagle River, checking out what the falls were doing after the recent rain storm we had. Between the wind this day and the roaring of the falls, it was difficult to hear and oh my, hold onto your hat for sure.

The second stop Kristen and her family made was at Great Sand Bay to check out the waves. Lake Superior was quite stirred up as you can see from the photos. The water was actually pretty warm for the Big Lake, so there were all kinds of people in the water. It sure looks like the Loescher family was having a good time, jumping into the waves and swimming along with them, too.

The video Kristen made, shows off wave after wave, just pounding in and the sound, WOW! Turn up the volume to get the full effect.

Looks like a blast! Is it customary to go swimming fully dressed? I guess perhaps if you forgot your swim suit. That's what I call; "Living for the moment."

Any updates from UC (Uncle Chuck) following his surgery? Ironically, he and I were both under the knife on the same day, 7/20, although his heart surgery was MUCH more of a big deal than my total hip replacement. In and out same day for me, getting along a bit better each day with walker and cane. Hope we hear from UC soon to wish him a healthy and speedy recovery.

Hi
Brings back many happy memories of playing in the
waves in Lake Huron at the beach in front of our
cabin near Cheboygan. This year, the water is too
deep/has too much of a drop-off as well as being
too stony. But still lovely and relaxing.

George L. (Yooperinct),
Great to hear you're doing well! Keep up the good work! How long before you should be walking without the cane?

These pictures make me want to be there right
now. And that video is exactly how we like
swimming in Lake superior. So jealous! Thanks
for sharing.

Yes! Also, no seaweed, and no jellyfish!

George L. (Yooperinct)...Glad to hear you're doing well and getting around with the aid of a walker and cain. One day at a time, right?

The latest update from Uncle Chuck, was that he was feeling better each day and up and moving around on his own. As of Saturday, he thought he may be released from the hospital on Monday. So far so good and he's praying for no setbacks. Lots of prayers for UC to have a good recovery and for yours to go well, too, George L.

Thanks Pasty Cam family for the well wishes following my hip surgery. All is as well as it can be, getting around fine with the walker but already the cane is taking over. The physical therapist "signed me off" this morning. No more home visits from her. I'm amazed that the progress has been this swift. And Jbuck, thanks, I should be walking without the cane in about another 1 - 2 weeks.
If anyone is contemplating hip replacement surgery, either yay or nay, I say GO FOR IT! You'll be glad you did. Beats gimping around like Grandpa McCoy for the rest of your life.
Thanks again to all of you! Now we can start rooting for Uncle Chuck!
