There are those that get out there and enjoy the weather, no matter what it’s doing and one of those people is Judy Byykkonen. Today’s adventure included her daughter and granddaughter, along with her usual partners, her four-legged “girls”. They were out exploring the Lake Superior shoreline at Bucky’s (Calumet Waterworks Park) and it looks like they found a good ice shelf already built up there, with chunky ice floating loosely all around it. When ice builds up like this on the shoreline, it gives the appearance of another planet or what I imagine it must look like on other planets. Nature sure creates some beautiful artwork and we’re so lucky to get to view it up close in our own backyard.

Judy made a video that day, also. It shows the chunky waters moving in and out with the rhythm of the waves. No matter the season, the sound of Lake Superior is mesmerizing... make sure you have your speaker volume turned up!

I would never be able to make it down there (Bucky's) so 'Thank You,' Judy, for the pictures. Just incredible.

Nothing like that in SE-MI right now, it's more like early Spring. We're expecting 2 to 3" of "Rain" this weekend.

Those cracks, crevices and fallen ledges are the main reason I don't go out there unless it's 10 below. Then of course you still won't find me out there because it's, well, 10 below.

Alex, Almost the same thing here in Northern IL except we're in that in between zone. Tonight and tomorrow we get 7 inches of sleet and snow on top of a quarter inch of ice. I would say, "I hope the power stays on", but I don't want to jinx things.

NICE EASY VISIT

More power to ya, D.A.. I think we may skirt by the worst here in SE-MI, but it will be a close call.
