Just a mixture of shots today, from the past 20 years of Pasty Cam photos. Nothing in common really, just interesting pictures. We start with a unique shot from 2003, where a Lake Linden Village garbage truck had just turned a corner when suddenly it was in a large sinkhole. Thankfully no one was hurt, but it sure made quite a stir in our little town that day.

Our next archive photo was taken by Dan Brown and shows a quaint little church in the woods between Crystal Falls and Sagola. It’s the Mansfield Pioneer Church. This log cabin was rebuilt by the Mansfield Historical Society to preserve the mining history of the little town of Mansfield.

The last shot was snapped when Brenda Leigh was out on some errands. These two Toms were busy plumping up and showing off, so they didn’t really pay any attention to the lady with the camera.

Did you know that here in the Upper Peninsula there are really five seasons? Yes, there is... Spring, Pothole, Summer, Fall and Winter. If the snow ever stops coming here in the Keweenaw, we’ll be headed into that pothole time of year. Back in 1837 the U.P. was traded for the Toledo Strip, and that’s where today’s video takes us to compare the two states’ potholes. Get ready for a bumpy ride!

Good morning Mary:

Is there a reason why Pasty Cam has not posted any 2018 photos on this page?

I'm probably missing the correct link but the 2017 photos seem to be posts of older photos.

In the past it seemed like a new photo would start a discussion.

JT

Mary says: JT...I'm not sure what you mean by the link for the 2017 photos, but the reason there is not a new 2018 photo on this page, goes back to over a year ago now, when the format was changed to reviewing "archive" photos that have appeared throughout the past 20 years on the Pasty Cam pages, with a new "current" photo to accompany the archive shots on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. You can read more about it back on March 1st, 2017, when Charlie introduced the new format. Click here to get to that page: March 1, 2017
I hope this answers your question. Let me know if you need further info. mdrew@pasty.com

Nice review...2003- that would ruin your day! The video....well..... That makes my blood boil!! With my job I drive 3500 miles a month, as many of you know, I cover MI & OH for my Medical Sales Job. MI roads are a disgrace to say the least and there's no reason for it, our leaders need to be held accountable and get their heads outta their •••'s!! C'mon self proclaimed "NERD" why aren't you doing your job!! Okay... time for a valium!! just kidding folks!

On a lighter note... and this time of year, ALEX, time for a well deserved break/vacation pal!! You need a road trip man!! Or if you need a DD, after today, just hit me up!! :=))

IS The Big Lake Roaring today U.P. there? I just checked the marine traffic, looks like they're hugging the North shore line??

You isn't a-kidd'n, UC. This tax year has been a long haul...and I'm blaming the weather.
As far as the roads go, Troy has some of the best road conditions in S.E.-MI. But as soon as you cross the east, west or south borders, it's a nightmare. Rochester, which is north is in pretty decent shape as well.

And it seems like they fix a road and then it goes
bad again in a year or so. Why don't these
contractors have to come back and fix for free
something that goes bad so quickly?

By J T (Jtinchicago) on Monday, April 16, 2018 - 07:50 pm:

Thank you, Mary.

I did not know about the change of format. I try to look in on Pasty dot Com every morning but I often miss 1 or 2 days each week.

I do wish we'd see at least one newer picture
every day. It was fun to look back on the older
pictures, but I also miss seeing new pictures and
what's going on at this time UP there. But maybe
that's just me.

Love the picture of the turkeys. They sure are
healthy looking.

Sorry about the double posting. Don't know what I
did for that to happen.
