It has truly amazed me looking through the past 20 years of archived photos, the variety of subjects we’ve shared from innumerable photographers. Today we have somewhat of a transportation theme, starting out with a classic on the Pasty Cam back in 2004. David Antikainen was the photographer, bravely standing in the middle of US41/M26 to snap an awesome shot of a logging truck heading straight for him, with the Cliffs in the background.

One year later, in 2005, we featured a shot from the top of Ripley Ski Hill, snapped by Rick Anderson of Skypixs, as he flew over. That’s the only way you’ll get me to the top of Mont Ripley in the winter months, because I wouldn’t be too keen on the trip back down otherwise.

The next year, 2006 we’re looking back in Keweenaw history with Robert Torreano, looking at how the older snOgo was around to clear the streets here UP North. One of the earlier models that kept things moving in the U.P. winters.

Our video today gives us a good look at a SNOGO snowblower on a 624J John Deere front end loader hard at work, making roads wider. Plenty of power in that machine!

Cool video, I'd like that job when I move U.P. to the Keweenaw! :=))

"Truckin' I'm a going home
Whoa, whoa, baby, back where I belong
Back home, sit down and patch my bones
And get back truckin' on"

Alex,
Thinking of tax time, this portion came to mind...

"Most of the cats that you meet on the streets speak of true love,
Most of the time they're sittin' and cryin' at home."

Followed up by...

"You're sick of hangin' around and you'd like to travel,
Get tired of travelin' and you want to settle down.
I guess they can't revoke your soul for tryin',
Get out of the door and light out and look all around"

We finally had an actual snowstorm out here this
past weekend. It's unreal how these people have
no idea as to how to clean up after a snowstorm.
We have huge banks of snow piled here and there
on our main street. I know we don't get as much
snow as other places, but you'd still think
they'd know how to clean the streets. I have no
idea how long those piles will be there, leaving
no place to park on main street. I try telling
everybody how it works where I'm from but they
can't even comprehend that much snow, lol.
Thankfully, the last couple of days have been
hovering near 50 so the piles have at least gone
down.
