The thing I noticed about this morning's 19 year review, was the presence of crowds in so many of the years, braving the elements for a variety of reasons. In 2000 it was Winter Carnival, 2007 a family photo from years gone by, and 2010 another glimpse of Heikenpaiva. I suddenly remembered in little more than a month there will be a pretty good crowd in the Keweenaw for the Copper Dog 150, the subject of today's featured video from a few years back.

Hope your winter is going well. Have a good week :o)

Winter IS going well . . . it's almost February!

"Heikenpaiva"?:
Heikki = Henrik/Henry
päivä = day
Heikin = Henrik's/Henry’s
Heikinpäivä = Henrik's/Henry’s day.
(Picky, picky!)

That's OK, I couldn't even spell "Frank" at 8AM EST (6AM (MST)! 😉

Interesting pix and I had to paws briefly and view the video...I didn't see one chili-dog.

Did someone say Hank Snow?

I know, I know. Too much. Still, it's sort of thematically OK.

D. A. (Midwested), you have me wondering if that song's the first time the term 'snowbird' was used to describe Northerners who head South for the Winter??

By Kathyrn Laughlin (Kathyl) on Monday, January 29, 2018 - 01:58 pm:

Hi
In terms of cross-country skiing, I have been able to get out & ski a couple of times here downstate. That is better than last winter.

Instead of these wild swings between 10F and 50F, I'd have liked to see nice, even, constant temperatures in the 20s, with 6 inches of snow as a base & an inch or two of fresh powder every so often. While I'm wishing, sunshine too.
