November 11th is the day that has been set aside as Veteran's Day, to honor all our military veterans who have served in the United States Armed Forces. Looking back into the archive of photos here on the Pasty Cam, we've shared a number of photos to show our thanks, starting with one from the C&H News and Views back in 2007. Mary Curto is in the back row on the left with her other four fellow Waves from downstate. Mary's dad Peter Curto worked in the C&H foundry, and most likely provided the photo to the editors of the company's monthly publication.

The next photo was featured in 2011, taken in Laurium and is a beautiful tribute cut out and painted, to honor those of our military that sacrificed everything for all of us Americans to live here with the freedoms we enjoy.

Back in 2014, Mary Schmitt shared a picture of the Post 90 Color Guard, comprised of Veteran's that belong to the American Legion Williams-Giroux Post, who faithfully perform as the Color Guard at all the Lake Linden-Hubbell home football games, no matter the weather. Just one of the many services they perform for the community and comrades.

We interrupt this look back at our Veteran's Day photos to bring you a special weather photo. Kathy Michaelson snapped this shot of her hubby, Jerry this past Thursday, using his Yooper Scooper to clear the six inches plus we received here in the Keweenaw overnight. And it didn't stop for the rest of the day, blowing and snowing some more. Winter is upon us.

OK…back to our Veterans. One way we as communities around the U.P. have said thank you to our Veterans, is to donate money so they can go on the Honor Flights that take them to Washington, D.C. for the day. They get to tour the war memorials there and are greeted by folks that shake their hands, give them hugs and express their thanks for the sacrifices they made during their military service. Check out the video from the U.P. Honor Flight that took place in May 2017.

A sincere thank you to all that have served. Without your actions our Constitution would be just words on paper.

I would also like to add my thanks to all the veterans because
without their service we would not have the country we have
and the country that everyone the world over would like to
emulate. I have two uncles that I am extremely proud of. One
is Howard who just received the French Legion of Honor
award for his flying the most sorties on the assault of
Normandy on D-Day.The other is Uncle Hank who was a pilot
over Berlin in WWII and Korea. They are still active and alert
at 98 and 95 respectively.
