A common recurring theme in the past 19 years on the Pasty Cam has been the subject of freighters on Lake Superior. It has been a popular one for all of us self-proclaimed boat nerds. On this day in 2010, Rod Burdick shared a photo of the Herbert C. Jackson at the ore dock in Marquette, while another laker sits off in the harbor awaiting her turn.

In 2014, Bob Gilreath and his wife, Liz, spent an incredible 5 days as guests of her brother, Bill Giddens and the Interlake Steamship Herbert C Jackson, cruising their route from Marquette to Detroit and back again on the Great Lakes. Bob said, "From the stateroom, to the antique deck chairs, to the food and great weather, the trip was fantastic."

And then just a few weeks back, Mark Upton was up at High Rock Bay at the tip of the Keweenaw when the salty BBC Campana, flagged in Antiqua was upbound heading to Duluth Harbor to pick up grain, while the laker Michipicoten was downbound as they passed by.

I'm not sure which freighter is the star of today's video feature, but it was filmed while passing by Esrey Park, between Copper Harbor and Eagle Harbor. It barely looks like it's moving, but you can see the water being displaced ahead of the bow and then a few birds flying by.

You can never go wrong with freighter pictures.
WE love going to Duluth and spending the day
watching freighters come and go. What awesome
ships.

Relaxing pix and video...I felt like pouring sand and setting up a pine tree, right here in the room.

I enjoy seeing the freighters on the lake or at the dock. They are huge.!!!!!!

Worked on the lake freighters for 5 yrs., 1986 to '91; first deckhands relief job was on the Herbert C. Jackson; spent 3 seasons on the Stewart J. Cort, the first 1000 footer built on the Great Lakes, she was built in 1972.
