Today's look back into the archives brings up some of my favorite shots and you'll find them across the entire Upper Peninsula…the ever changing skies. We start in 2008 with a beautiful rainbow from Bob Gilreath. It seems to be shooting out of the clouds, just beyond the silos and barn. Bob said on this day, that they while traveling from Duluth to Bruce Crossing, they followed a thunder storm never quite catching up with it. This rainbow was a product of that weather along the way.

Then in 2011, Bob takes us out in his backyard to do some star gazing. He said this shot was a work in progress for a couple nights, placing the top of his flagpole as close to Polaris (the North Star), as he could. He used a 30 minute exposure to get the effect he did in the early morning skies. If this photo was put in motion, it could possibly make us dizzy!

And last but not least, back in 2012, Steve Brimm snapped a gorgeous sunset from the shores of Copper Harbor. Along with Porters Island, the sunset reflecting in the Harbor waters gives us double the pleasure. The skies around the U.P. are absolutely amazing at times.

Clouds in the skies are another fascinating weather related bonus. They can mean good weather, bad weather or in between. Today's video excursion takes us traveling with the changing skies of Upper Michigan guiding the way.

Wow...what a nice set of pleasant pix and an excellent video. I felt like I was once again, cruising on the Wing along 41 by the Keweenaw Bay with the sunshine on my face, the blue-blue water on my right and the green forest on my left. Thanks for the memories.

I was having considerable difficulty identifying where that trip took place. Am I losing my sense of geography? ('Tis amazing how few highway/road signs were seen along the way!) Evidently it was filmed in several disconnected segments; after far too much study, I found the following:

Initially (≈0:00-0:32) driving along M-95, then crossing the Peshekee River (where?), passing a sign for the McCormick Wilderness Trailhead (I don't know where the trailhead is).

Then (≈0:40-0:42) after a fade, northbound on US-41 passing Alberta, and (≈ 0:45-1:18) along what looks like Keweenaw Bay?

Then after another fade, at ≈1:19-1:25, suddenly passing "Da Shack Soup and Salad Bar". (Where could that be?)

At (≈1:58-2:00) on M-38 passing St Henrys [sic] Church at the eastern edge of beautiful downtown Nisula, MI.

Another fade, then suddenly driving north on N Lake Avenue in Crandon, WI ???, passing "Duck's Bar", and the "Hotel Crandon Restaurant and Bar"?
