Fresh snow has fallen this weekend in the Copper Country. I had to dig out on Saturday morning, home for a visit in Eagle River. Later this week that snow will be put to a good use, as the copperdog150 returns.

The top photo from W.R. Maki appeared on the Pasty Cam about 15 years ago. Wonder how that young sledder looks today? And the video is one I ran across which shows another small husky wannabe, pulling for all he's worth, and then being all worn out, for any dog lovers browsing by.

We'll surely have more to say about the Copper Dog later in the week. And more exciting news, the Pasty Cam begins year number 20 on Wednesday, March 1. It will be kind of a victory lap that we've made it for almost 2 full decades, a daily glimpse of life from the U.P.

As FRN pointed out, March 1 will not be our 20th anniversary, but rather (as I noted above) it begins year number 20. In other words, for each new day beginning with 3/1/17, there are 19 previous pictures for that date. What we are hoping to do during this coming year, is to expand beyond just a "Glimpse of Life in the U.P.", to featuring a daily video relating to those previous years' photos.

When we first started this feature, there was no video content, and very few photos of the U.P. on the Internet. Now we have the opportunity each day to look back at 19 previous year's worth of U.P. 'glimpses', and cap it off with a short, 20th year re-visit of some aspect of that rich history. When the coming year is complete, we will have polished off two full decades of the Pasty Cam with this final victory lap... assuming we can maintain our unbroken record of daily exploration.

Thoreau once said, "The mass of men lead lives of quiet desperation". I prefer to think, that here in the U.P. we are blessed: to enjoy lives of quiet inspiration :o)
