Bill Haller with another follow-up to our Atlas Powder explorations.

Fascinating photos. I'll have to cut my own comments short tonight, as Edie and I are in one of the Hospitality Rooms at Marquette, on another medical run. It was a pleasant drive here from the Copper Country today, though some delays pushed back our update again.

Have a good week.

Always a fascinating story. Thank you Bill and Charlie!

Tough-looking bunch! I wonder what the photographer said just before he took he photo.

By jbuck (Jbuck) on Monday, October 26, 2015 - 07:28 am:

Thanks for the good info Charlie!

Praying that your visit to Marquette is in the realm of a "check-up" rather than a "emergency" visit. You and Edie continue to be in our prayers for healing and protection.

Nat and I will be at the Hagley Museum in about a week and a half. I will have to examine the museum a little closer to see if I can find some Atlas Powder references and if I do, will surely get some photos......

"...slept under his wagon...". In Michigan, in winter? Must've been a hardy fella. Great info, Charlie.
I join Jbuck in hoping/praying that your medical run is just a check-up and nothing serious, Edie and Charlie.

By Mr. Bill (Mrbill) on Monday, October 26, 2015 - 10:45 am:

Yes Shirley, according to his Grand-daughters still living in Senter location, grandpa Neher DID sleep under his wagon that winter before the pre-fabbed houses arrived by rail and were assembled.

As chief Teamster, his job was to ready the dray horses every morning before the whistle (really) sounded.

When Atlas the plant closed in 1960, the autographed whistle was actually presented to MTU, where today atop the MTU powerhouse it is blown signaling every K-Day on campus.

Mr. Bill, that's what I'd call a man dedicated to his job. Gives me a chill just thinking about it.
