Carol Ann Pearce on the beach at Bete Grise June 19, 1956 before returning to her parent's home in Lake Linden to be married that afternoon. Carol will back in Lake Linden July 6, 2002 for the 50th reunion of the High School class of 1952. The marriage has worked wonderfully well and we will be back in the Keweenaw for 42nd time in the last 46 years.

What a great picture! Its so clear and sharp. Brings back memories of the days when you could camp there. We always stayed on the canal side because of the winds. There is still the old fishing row boat there, beached on the canal shore. That was our spot. Not much of fishing on that side though.

Congratulations Carol and Frank. Has been many years since I have seen you, I was just a tennie back then but do have many great memories of my time spent with Ransom at the Bay. Always nice to see someone else who has the proper spelling for Bete Grise. By the way your place looks great with all the work that has done to it. Again Congratulations from a Bete Gris neighbor - 4 doors down. Jim

What wonderful memories we have along this beach with all the teen campers from Gitche Gumee. By the way, Eagle River was invaded by the Junior campers this week, so another season is off and running.

Looking at your old cars yesterday. I dont know if you will put this on line?
I would like some information for anyone who knows who stole the 1939 chevy 2 dr. sedan from the strack property in DONKEN, MI. sometime in the year2001. I the owner will pay a reward for the person who can identify the person or persons. I would appreciate it. Thank you. OLPAPA960@CS.COM

Congratulation on your wedding anniversary - what a wonderful photo to remember the day. My husband and I are celebrating our 20th anniversary today. We met at Michigan Tech. We were actually soils lab partners. We have a similar photo taken at Mclain of me and there's actually one of us walking along the beach in the 1981 Tech Year Book. The UP is a wonderful place to fall in love. Again Congratulations to you. Have a wonderful day!

Happy Anniversary Mom and Dad!!!

What a neat surprise on the pic o' the day!
I hate to admit it, but I never knew your wedding date, not being around and all.
I will mark it in my calendar(s) and hope that I look at one of them next year!
See you soon.

Congratulations on your anniversary. Hope
Mary Louise gets there, too. It rained on our
parade on our 50th in '99. Bete Grise is one
beautiful spot in this troubled world.

I'll add my congratulations to Carol and Frank. The fact that I am Carol's sister, Mary Louise, and I didn't remember their anniversary is embarrassing. My excuse is that I was in Germany taking care of my firstborn daughter in June of 1956. Like Greg, I've added it to my calendar and promise to do better next year. The picture is one of pure joy--and it was also joyful for me to read the other responses to the picture! Yes, Bete Grise holds special memories for many. Mary Louise

Yooperzz is my brother a James Jacka and I am Bill in Alabama the oldest and Paul the youngest is also in Alabama. Our grandfather Faucett was going to Bete Gris (who added the "e") in 1904 according to a Gazette article and on one trip declared the road "good". I spent all my summers at the bay from 1939 on and the high light of the summer was when the grader came and the travelling Foley store with the weeks order of groceries driven by Johnny Hahn. Also the high light of the summer was the arrival of the CINNCY boys who stayed at Delaware in the barracks. As Mary Loiuse and Carol will remember Robert Richards is now at the Bay until November. The summer of 56 I was back in the Bay as had been asked by MSU not to return for that fall and I do recall the wedding. {I did go back in 58 and did finish}. Have a year round home in EH and am not to sure that one of you all were in church this past summer at EH. We were in the harbor the latter part of August last year and there was a couple from the Bay that sat on the right side that were from the Pearce cottage. Kevin is the same person who has done major work at my place over the past 5 years and some of the Yoopers think that he has a full time job at my place, however he does quality work and is a perfectionist. Hope to see you this summer. Bill Jacka Sr.
