Spectacular photo....who took the picture? Whenever I stand on the shores of Gitchee Gumee I'm reminded of my parents who passed over many years ago. She always gives me a quiet solace when she is quiet, and an open eyed wonder when she is fierce.

Tom @ CENTEMENTAL HEIGHTS- - -
That's NOT a Seaplane - - it's a Floatplane ! !
I flew twin-engine PBY 5A & 6A Catalina patrol
planes in the Pacific Theater during WW11.The
seaplane has a hull and wingtip floats for
stability when on the water
See www.pby.com for more info/pics/etc

By Dave of Mohawk on Saturday, July 31, 2004 - 07:42 pm:

Tom; You are absolutely correct, although I have a seaplane rating on my pilot license and the FAA does not specify sea or float. My license says "land and sea" which entitles me to fly floats or sea. If you want to be even more specific the floats in the photo are amphibious floats.

By Georgie, MO on Saturday, July 31, 2004 - 08:32 pm:

What a beautiful picture! We just learned today of the passing of a family friend, Dortha Gainey, in Enid,OK. So to her memory and that of other family members... May God grant you eternal rest. We love you and will miss you all.

By Tom on Saturday, July 31, 2004 - 09:28 pm:

Hei Hei Dave - -
I always get a bone in my foot when i hear float
planes called seaplanes even if they are amphib-
ious ! If you ever have a chance to fly SEAPLANES
you will never forget those great flights !!!!
When I was separated from Service I received a
Commercial,single & multi engine, land & sea,
unlimited horsepower license.I started Tech in
the fall 0f '46 and never did use it.
(see Pasty.com Archives/2000/December 13/14)

stuff.
