You can feel the crisp air, just looking at those rosy cheeks! Mark Pontti, one of our newest Guest Gallery contributors, caught Emma, Marcus and Max having a great time in the snow. Being young in the U.P. is one of the finer things in life, especially during the snowy months... snowdays, snowmen/women, snowball fights, snow forts, the possibilities are endless... definitely! I'm thinking it's about time for a snowman in my yard...

Hey, Mary, thanks for the tip on wallpaper....my hubby is slightly miffed because I tossed off Lance Armstrong and the "posties" for the snow scene on the beach for my wallpaper:) What's this about an all school reunion LLHS?? jdam's wife from Texas

Just went back and read yesterday's mail from all the CA transplanted Yoopers. I live in Ventura. I sell tools at the swapmeet on weekends, and one day was talking to a gal with a Mackinaw Island T-Shirt on, when another guy came up and said, "I didn't know you were a Yooper!" I didn't know he knew what a Yooper was, but he did! He was from Chicago, but had had a friend from the UP. Lead to nice conversations and a nice friendship.

Hey Jean in Texas.....
The Lake Linden Hubbell High School is having an all school reunion on July 4. You should be getting a letter from the Foundation's Group by the end of October or call the school for further information. Lake Linden Village will be celebrating on July 2 & 3.

Kind of brings back the good old days in East Houghton, waiting for the first snow fall.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!
Always love the pictures and messages from everyone. I'm from the suburbs of Chicago but have vacationed in Copper Harbor all my life. My family has owned Duck Island in Copper Harbor since 1955. I have very special family in Baraga and Dodgeville too. (Hi Uncle John and Josie) I'm coming back in July and I can't wait!!!

Greetings from another Yooper in the Central Valley of California. I used to live on Front Street in Lake Linden north of the old boneyard ball diamond. Several of your recent Cam-notes brought back memories. Keep up the great work. I check out Pasty.com daily. Opps - Happy Thanksgiving to Pat & Eldred in AZ. (mom & dad)

One has to have been there as a kid to get the feeling from todays picture that only us who were rasied in the Copper Country can feel. You have had to have played in the snow on a cold winter day taking in the crisp U.P. air & then go home unwrap youself to the smell of pasties ready from the oven to realy understand what we transplanted Yoopers are thankfull for.Happy Thanksgiving.

On yesterday's page, there was a comment about road conditions in the UP. You can go to www.wluctv6.com. Click on What's new on TV6. On that page, on the left, click on Before you travel... This takes you to the State Police report on main road conditions in the UP.

Happy Tanksgiving to all!!
Those will be the best memories that can be made, winter in a small town, so much to do so many places to go, not like down here 6 months in doors with mom Im board, cant you find somthing for me to do. I dont have any kids But I hear the same thing from the people that do. There is a whole life beyond that computer or that video game it called the great outdoors so get out there and enjoy it before it passes you by.

By Ken and Mimi from da UP on Wednesday, November 26, 2003 - 10:56 pm:

A HAPPY THANKSGIVING from da UP!! I reckon my cheeks looked like that as a kid up in Paavola. I can remember being outside like this and coming in to the good smell of supper cooking. Nice memories, 'eh?

Yeah, like Dave Hiltunen said, except this time of the year, it would be the smell of venison roasting at our house!
