Scott Laurie has outdone himself with this week's breathtaking view from Bare Bluff to Mt. Bohemia, in a follow-up to his guest album shots around the Keweenaw back in the summer. It's nice to have friends in high places.

Welcome home to Toivo, who sends word he's riding up from Green Bay this morning. Looks like a good day to cross the U.P. in any direction.
By Walt, Ohio on Friday, October 10, 2003 - 06:47 am:

Welcome HOME Toivo!!

By Sharyn on Friday, October 10, 2003 - 07:33 am:

This is incredible! Great shot, Scott!

By Missin the UP from NJ on Friday, October 10, 2003 - 07:59 am:

Toivo, welcome back to the great USA and UP. After you get rested up and get the wood in, maybe you can share a few stories and pics of your trip "down under"?

Today's pic is too beautiful for words!

By Keith, Kansas on Friday, October 10, 2003 - 08:09 am:

Definitely the shot I needed to see to cap off a hectic week at work! Thank you for sharing this outstanding photograph!

By Lily, MI on Friday, October 10, 2003 - 08:24 am:

Perfect.

By Nancy, Massachusetts on Friday, October 10, 2003 - 09:11 am:

Wow. The photos this week have been just
awe inspiring. Wow.

How much do I miss home? So very much.

By Carole on Friday, October 10, 2003 - 09:38 am:

WOW!!! Okay Mr. Wheatman, lets hear your input on this stunning shot.

By Kate, St Paul on Friday, October 10, 2003 - 10:14 am:

Ahh, Mt. Bohemia. A magnificent vista in fall
colors, the sparkly waters, and the air so
fresh. I can almost feel myself on top that
peak after a long hike. Thanks for showing us
this view!

By Tbel, MN on Friday, October 10, 2003 - 10:17 am:

This is an awsome pic. I love the way the rock borders each end. Maybe I've been spending to much time in digital photo forums but, I can't help but comment on the technical aspects.
If you could better match the stitched sections this would be suitable for framing.
That said this is exactly why we come here each day, to see beautifull pics by wonderfull people.

By Sherry in N FL on Friday, October 10, 2003 - 10:28 am:

Just wonderful. Breathe deep and smile.

By Marsha, Genesee and Aura on Friday, October 10, 2003 - 10:46 am:

One of the young students at the elementary school where I work asked if bear grow during hibernation, especially the cubs. Anyone have the answer for us? I bet asking pasty cammers is better than Asking Jeeves! I'll be leaving this afternoon for the U.P. Can't wait to see that beautiful full moon shining brightly across Keweenaw Bay into my living room window!

By Mary Drew on Friday, October 10, 2003 - 11:17 am:

Marsha~~
Check out this info for your answer:

Hope it helps those young inquiring minds!!

Ahh a multifarious milieu of agrestal beauty indeed. The flora is shedding it's summer cloak as we speak, so one must not hasten to procure a gander at one of nature's most prodigious miracles. Kudos on the fine shot.

cup of coffee. Brings back many happy memories. If
you're reading this, Mike and Kathie, have a great week
in the copper country! Say hi to Ansel, Nona and

I remember climbing to the top of the former fire Lookout Tower on Bohemia years ago....It was awesome then as it is now......

I wish I had never left ...

By Jean, Ohio on Friday, October 10, 2003 - 01:49 pm:

WOW, I've had a very hectic week at work, and then I see this shot right before going home for the week. THANKS We love to see Mt. Bohemia and Lac La Belle! Never thought I'd miss it so much, wish I could be there now!

By Jim B-Downtown Milwaukee on Friday, October 10, 2003 - 03:32 pm:

Great picture Scott. Its an awesome view. If you get a chance, take a shot from Bumbletown Hill overlooking Ahmeek and Mohawk. I want to use it as a screensaver. Thank You.

By Reluctant climber on Friday, October 10, 2003 - 04:17 pm:

Here's a piece of trivia. Mt Houghton is higher (elv 1454') than Mt Bohemia (elv 1429')

By Chris, Michigan on Friday, October 10, 2003 - 04:31 pm:

How cool... thank you.

By Betty, Sun City, AZ on Friday, October 10, 2003 - 04:44 pm:

What an awesome God we have that prepared all this for our enjoyment. GREAT picture Scott.
I agree with Jim B., if you can get a picture overlooking Ahmeek and Mohawk it would be great. It is where both my parents are from, and I was born in Mohawk. Would love to see a picture on here of it. Thanks in advance.

My second favorite beach on the backside of the peninsula. I could tell you my favorite, but then I would............well you know the rest.

I spent 4th of July on this beautiful beach, with about 17 other people over two miles...........

On my favorite beach, we were all alone.......

Is this a great Peninsula or what?

By Scott Laurie, Mohawk on Friday, October 10, 2003 - 11:32 pm:

Jim & Betty
I am hoping the sun will be shining when I am off work tommorow as I will honor your request. I grew up in Ahmeek and now reside in Mohawk. I have not perfected the art of putting the pics together but it is getting better. This pic is actually seven pictures that were taken from a tripod leveled with a bowl level. Thanks to all for the compliments and hope you all enjoy what I enjoy so much in person living here.

By Betty, Sun City, AZ on Saturday, October 11, 2003 - 02:42 am:

Thanks Scott, I will be waiting!! We had the same Aunt Lona. So we have the same cousin too, Jim Paull - the famous hockey player :-). My dad was Bill Paull from Ahmeek and my mom is Ruby Perry Paull from Mohawk. I appreciate you doing it. Your pictures are great. I enjoy seeing 'up home' from way out here in AZ.

Scott, I would say thats a pretty darn good job of stiching. I've tried a few, but didnt get that good a result.

By Uncle John on Saturday, October 11, 2003 - 07:41 am:

Hey dere, Rick. I remember climbing that old fire tower, too. It had missing and rotted steps but the view was worth the risk, eh.

When I was a senior in high school I raced the sun. It was going down, and I was snowshoeing up Bohemia. The day before there had been an ice storm, and every branch and twig on the Keweenaw had a half inch of ice on it. I watched the sun set firey orange over a galaxy of ice from that tower. It will be one of my last memories.
