Another Bootjack Sunset    ...scroll down to share comments

I have to say the two prettiest pictures this week are the ones from Bootjack, where they share the same zip code as Lake Linden, so they must qualify to share the Lake Linden spotlight. Matt & Jen Schnippert have a nice new collection of slides from all around the U.P., and this was one of them. A pleasant way to end (or begin) the day for a guy a long way from home.

Spending the night near a little town called Yakutat, AK, hope to make it up to Anchorage this weekend. Know anybody who needs a solid second car? I would be a little tuff to drive this to the 50th state.

Nice picture! Did the SOBIG virus shutdown Pasty.com for a while yesterday? I couldn't get it to come up down here in the land of corn.

There is nothing like Portage Lake as daylight wanes and the moon waxes full over the South Entry channel.

It will be interesting to see how the pro walleye fishermen do in the September tourney on Portage Lake.

Paul,

Pasty.NET/Pasty Central, and the 200+ websites we host did not miss a beat during the virus storm which flooded the Internet yesterday. Perhaps local routing in your area experienced some problems.

There was another kind of storm along Lake Superior this morning: the Northern Lights. Just before sunrise over the dunes here in Eagle River there was a blazing blanket across the sky. Also I thought there was a helicopter hovering over town with a red spotlight, until I realized it was the planet Mars.

Retraction - Mr. Rob Wetton's Foggy Forest was excellent as well.

Hey Charlie,
I thought i saw that same helicopter hovering over the airport here in WPB Florida early this morning. I'll bet Toivo has a good view up there in there in Alaska.

Anyone capture those lights this morning? How bout it Dan?

By Troll in Eagle Harbor on Friday, August 22, 2003 - 01:38 pm:

I first saw the lights at about 1:30 this morning.I guess that is one of the "benefits" of pulling the graveyard shift. It was a mighty fine show indeed!

Thanks everyone! I joked while we were up there that I was hoping to take a picture that would make it on the Pasty Cam. I took this picture lying on the beach in front of the sauna. My brother-in-law took a picture of me while I was taking this shot, and I'll post it to my gallery once he sends it to me. This day was the only day that we were able to see a good sunset because of all of the foggy and hazy days while we were up. We were only able to visit for a week this summer, which wasn't nearly long enough.

Jen, Is your brother the same Mike Krenitsky who played guitar for the Kinetics?

By Jen Schnippert, Tallahassee, FL on Saturday, August 23, 2003 - 01:01 pm:

Ron,
No, that's Mike Krenitsky, Jr. My brother is Mike Krenitsky, III. And I'm not a Krenitsky, my maiden name is Burkholder. My mom, Jan, was married to Mike, Jr. when he was in the Kinetics, but later remarried.

One of the best bands I've ever seen in Kenosha occasionally plays at George's Club Highview. If you've never seen Southside Johnny, check 'em out. They play an incredible variety of music from Elvis Presley to the Violent Femmes and everything in between. I love them!!!
