Here's my contribution for Flower Week. These are Polygala, or Gaywings, or
Polygala paucifolia. They resemble orchids, but are in a separate family. They bloom in the spring. They grow in abundance at McLain State Park, but I found these at Bond Falls. The mist on them is from the Falls. They really are this striking pink.

Each day this week has included a 'bonus shot', and today's comes from Ethel Moyle. Thanks to all who sent flower pictures, sorry we couldn't present them all here. We are working on a new gallary feature for the Pasty Cam which will allow display of all photos which are contributed.

HAPPY SUMMER ALL!..... ENJOY IT .. JULIE B. :)

To be technically correct when using Latin names, only the genus name, Polygala, is capitalized while the species name, paucifolia is not. Even this does not distract from the beauty, though.
"What's in a name? That which we call a rose by any other word would smell as sweet." Shakespeare, from Romeo and Juliet.

Gary,

For the record, in his original note Dan Urbanski had the name correct as you have indicated. I inadvertantly capitalized paucifolia when uploading. Don't remember a whole lot of my 3 years of Latin.

Yupper,
Looks like Spring is bustin' out all over. I'll be in the Keweenaw end of July for my annual recharge. I just can't wait.

Thank you for those cheery flowers! Help to remind me that there really is a sun! STILL raining out here in the east.
Happy Summer to all!

Just came back from a month in the UP; 12 days in Munising and 11 in the Copper Country and a week on the eastern end of the UP. Because I did NOT have access to the internet (pasty cam) my question is what is happening with Toivos travels across Canada, or wherever? Just for the record, had the best hashbrowns at the Hut in Kearsarge, they are call Hut Browns made with shredded rhutabaga, potatoes and onions. What a treat!!!

For Sam on Sunday; swaping a beautiful woman for Gaywings, wow, I like your taste. Age has its own rewards, doesn't it?
