Yesterday’s archive photos were about Christmas decorations and today we have more Christmas themed photos, starting with a shot, Jonathan Hopper snapped back in 2001. The Hoppers took a drive to check out the Christmas lights and found this scene in Hubbell. So pretty with the snow blanketing the bushes covered in lights.

Jumping ahead to 2012, we have a photo from Mike Schneider, over at Superior Seasons Photography for our second archive picture. Mike was out there in the dark of the night, watching the stars peek through, as the clouds moved over Lake Superior. It really does look like the clouds are in motion.

The Stars and Stripes in the midst of a snowy deck, was snapped by Kathy Archambeau, in 2009, but appeared again in 2015 with an almost identically placed photo with absolutely no snow that year. If it weren’t for the red, white and blue, this shot would look like a black and white photo.

Our last two pictures were snapped this past Sunday, by Joe Kirkish over at the Rozsa Center on Michigan Tech’s campus. MTU held their second annual Tuba Christmas with over 60 Tubas and Baritones playing Christmas music. The band consists of community members ages 12 – 76, with MTU hosting one of 17 concerts that are held in Michigan. These Tuba Christmas Concerts are actually held across the US and what makes them unique, is that the group meets for the first time that same day. They practice for about and hour and then put on the concert for the public.

Today’s video was recorded at that very same concert on Sunday, by Sierra Bishop, who’s son was one of those tuba/baritone players. Their rendition of Hark the Harold Angels Sing is quite impressive considering these 60 folks only practiced together for an hour before performing. What a fun gathering for the community.

What a unique tradition ~ and they are very good with no extended practices!

Remembering all the sailors lost on this anniversary of the Pearl Harbor attack.

1. A Tuba Christmas? Better than a tuba toothpaste!
You would hardly expect there were that many tubas in the entire UP.
2. Pearl Harbor anniversary: Amen to that!

That is the quietest tuba concert I have ever heard. And yes the sound was turned on, on my computer.

James W. Hird. You have to turn the sound on in the video. Click the x by the speaker on the bottom of the video.

Our Tuba Christmas is this Saturday at the mall.
They say it's the 26th anniversary.
