So, Was Red Jacket what we now call Calumet?

Before the month melts away, I wanted to share a shot from the Michigan Tech Archives, which illustrates a problem we are facing presently. The possibility of a sudden thaw requires some effort to avoid flooding.

I love these old photos. They are the closest thing we have to time travel. I especially enjoy the comparison to the present day. It's a whole different world.

A few more horses

I wonder if they are delivering the snow to Tech for snow statues?...naw, those guys don't look like fraternity brothers.

This is a delightful photograph. However, the snow appears to be more a "fresh arrival" than a "left over". Still, though the snow is still dirty and plentiful here in Sault Ste. Marie ON, spring is in the air today; a big, black, ugly laker just slid past my window; and a few moments ago I patted my comely sailboat's bottom as a promise of good things to come.

Great shots always ..... could you put some current shots of 7 Mile Point up, so we can all get some fresh views of what the Northwoods Conservancy is trying to save? It's a gorgeous stretch, and they're running out of time and need $$.

Good Morning All,
I have a mantle clock that was purchased from Joseph Hermann Jeweler in Red Jacket back in 1892. It belonged to my great Grandparents Mr.and Mrs. William Odgers. My Mother and I have often wondered where Red Jacket was. Thanks for the info. I have learned SO much about my family through this web site. Keep up The GREAT work,
Have a great week.... Spring will soon be here!!!
