Happy Memorial Day! Today is a federal holiday here in the US, to remember and honor the men and women who have died while serving in the US Armed Forces. Tradition is to place flags on all the Veteran's graves and here in the Lake Linden-Hubbell area, our local American Legion, Post 90 takes care of doing this, while the Post 90 Auxiliary comes along after the flags are placed and wrap a poppy around each flag top. A small but at the same time, significant way of saying thank you for the service they have given to their country.

It's also a day that family and friends decorate their loved ones graves with flowers in remembrance of them. I went out to the cemetery to do just that and snapped some photos while I walked around paying my respects to folks I knew who've passed on.

Please take a moment today and especially remember those men and women who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our country, having died while defending our freedoms.

I love cemetery pictures. I could just walk around
all day out there and reminisce about the people I
knew. I see my dad's grave there before we got out
to really decorate it. It's kind of cool seeing it
with just the American Flag there for Memorial Day.
Thanks for including that. When we go up next
month, I'll put the rest of the stuff on, and walk
around visiting other graves, and saying prayers
over the people I knew.

At this very moment I am witnessing the Memorial Day
parade line up here in Rockwood, Mi

I as a youngster marched with the 107th Engrs in
Calumet out to the cemetary on Memorial day way back
in the early 50's.

We owe our freedom to those who have fought and
protected us in the past.

Today and everyday keep those who gave their All for our Freedom. Cemetery walks is a history lesson for me. Bob is from a small town, his parents are buried there. We walk about with his recollections of everyone who is buried there also is a way of coming to terms with the loss we feel without these people in our living world.

Really nice and meaningful photos, Mary. I feel I know some of the
people whose names are etched on those headstones. Clearly, they
have not been forgotten. Thank you for letting us remember them
with you.
