When Kathleen Niemi Vettori and her husband took a drive out to Misery Bay to check on the camp, they were astounded at the amount of snow there and the height of the snow drift that filled their driveway and surrounded their camp. Kathleen said that they both just kept repeating, "Wow", when they walked around on top of the drifts to check things out.

The photo of Kathleen's husband touching the roof, was made possible by the almost 5 feet of snow on the ground in that spot and then you look to the right of where he's standing and the drift there is even higher. By the looks of things there, it won't be anytime soon that they'll be parking their vehicle in the driveway and able to unthaw everything there at the camp. Kathleen wondered if they'll even be swimming there this summer. I'm going to say, yes, they will be, but it might not be until July! ;-)

I bet that place is beautiful in the summer!

Wow is right...more like Misery at Spring Bay.

Nice photos! I bet it would be awesome in the summer. Is this the Misery Bay that is somewhat near the Portage? And is it the same one as the book by the same name? (I think there are several in Michigan.) When the book came out, I searched to find out where Misery Bay was, and at that time, it looked like that Misery Bay was over somewhat near Whitefish Point, if I remember correctly? Sorry for all of the questions; thank you.

Wow! That is a lot of snow. It's like the 'old days' when I was living there. It will take a while for that much snow to melt off. (of course it needs to warm up first) We have been in the 70's here in California. Finally getting some rain.
This Misery Bay is in Toivola. Down on the shores of Superior.

Very cool pic's again today! Thanks for sharing, wish I could be there!

Thank you, Daninca! Is it the same one that was the setting for that somewhat recent book, by chance?

mystery.

Some great shots got captured there. Impressive.

By Jack K (Jackinct) on Saturday, March 29, 2014 - 08:19 am:

People here in Connecticut freak out over a few inches of snow. 5 feet would be the end of the world to most of them!
That place looks to be in a perfect spot in the summer though.
