With winter on the down side and spring on the way, we've been getting a bit more sunshiny days in the Keweenaw. That usually puts everyone in a better mood, after enduring a long cold winter, even the Chickadees. Carlie Ongie was out and about in the sunshine with her camera and she captured one of those Chickadees as it was in flight, landing on the feeder and then partaking of some of the bird seed for dinner.

Chickadees here in the Keweenaw are tough little birds. They hang around here all winter, relying on the generosity of those of us that put seed out for them to make it through the snowy, cold days. I've never been able to ask one of course, so I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that they'll be happy to see winter coming to a close this year, too.

These are great pictures! Mavis our Siamese will watch and study these hardy and comical little birds for long periods of time when they visit our feeder.

Love these pictures! Our cats sit like book ends
in our window and just chatter their teeth while
watching them. So darn cute! But they won't get
their greedy little paws on our birds if I can help
it, lol. They can clear out the mice and
squirrels!

Chickadees and red-winged blackbirds are the first and most plentiful birds seen around North Dakota after harsh winters. So evidently they don't travel too far south in winter.
Neat photos, Carlie ~ thanks.
