Brenda Leigh enjoys walking the Lake Superior shoreline in the Brimley area where she lives, no matter the weather. Today's photos from her are a compilation of a few of the things she's found while scouring Superior's shores.

There are the more common things you might see, like a child's toy bulldozer, left there and forgotten in the sand from the warm summer days. If the snow gets too deep on the beach, maybe it can plow a path for Brenda to walk along.

An old tire there on the beach is also something you might expect to see. I love how Brenda captured the snow falling, while the wave crashes around the big tire.
Brenda's icy coated rocks photo is another common sight along Superior's beaches this time of year.

Which leads us up to the last two photos and the question asking, what in the world are these two things? The hand like object, while looking like it could be a monster from the depths of Lake Superior, is actually a type of plastic, tile type substance they use to prevent erosion on the shoreline. Brenda said after one of the more recent storms, there were several of these floating in the water and this one made it to shore.

So that explains the first "Lake Monster", but the last photo has folks stumped as to what this could be. Guesses have been a dog fish, an Asian carp or perhaps a "hoax" that someone put there on the beach to fool folks. But whatever it is, Brenda wasn't touching it. She said it was about 10 inches long and frozen there in the sand. Friends suggested she take it to a fish biologist and see if it could be identified, but like I said, there was no way Brenda was picking this thing up.

If you might know what it is, please feel free to chime in and end the mystery of the creature from the Superior Lagoon. ;-)

Great pics. I like the picture of the little bulldozer that could. My guess on the last picture, and it is strictly a guess, would be a sculpin.
