Joy Ziemnick and friends took a walk in the woods this past week. The humans used snowshoes, but their four-legged friend, Diesel, made his way on his own four paws. Of course he had a bit of help from Joy's husband, Jim, who broke the trail for him and "panked" down the snow.

Joy said the beauty in the woods was almost like a surreal fairyland, where they were surrounded by white figure-shapes on every tree along their snowshoe path. You can see by her photos, exactly what she means, as the trees were caked with so much blown on snow, that you could barely even see they have bark on them. I bet it was beautifully quiet on their trek through the woods, too, with just the sound of the crunch, crunch of their snowshoes and the birds chirping away above them.

Great way to spend a wintry day!

Wow, these are gorgeous pics! Thank you, Joy, for sharing them. Even though I didn't have to use snowshoes through our woods most winters, my collie would still have me "pank" it down in front of her! Unless she got wind of a mouse. Then, she was off snout first submarining under the snow.
