When Marilynn Bachorik sent in today's photos, she told me how she had tramped into Munising Falls to get these shots and that it was beautiful to be all alone in the frozen woods. She made her way from the parking area, and took the path to the platform in front of the falls, where she snapped that last photo of the column of ice frozen all around the running falls. She said you could hear the water rushing through the middle there. There at the platform is where you encounter the stairs to the top of the falls on both sides. Those are the stairs are closed, but even without being able to trek up to the top, it's quite the site to see in the midst of our snowy winter.

Thanks for taking us along on your adventure, Marilynn!

It was worth the hike! Thanks!

Be careful out there!

Nice...I tried finding these falls once, buy got turned around. Ended up at Miners Castle that was worth the faux paw.

Pretty shots, Marilynn, but all I can say is brrrr! :>

Alex, that was a lucky mistake, alright. The drive out H58 to Miners
Castle is lovely, and once you get there, the views are spectacular!
Munising Falls is just a quick side trip off H58. From "downtown"
Munising, head east, toward Miners Castle, on H58 for a mile and
then take the slight left onto Washington Street. After about 1/4
mile, you'll see the parking lot and the trail head for the falls on
the right.

It really is wonderful to get out and about in the snow. I am going to get my snowshoes out! Great pics!
