Today's trio of photos come to us from Mike Schneider and give us a good taste of the different looks the sky undertakes here UP North.

In Mike's first shot, the clouds are taking shape, making their way from the land mass of Marquette and moving on out over Lake Superior. When the sky is filled with clouds that are on the move like these, they change constantly, making many different formations. Mike said that he thought the bright white could in this photo, looked like a hand, so he titled it, "High Five from Heaven." What do you see in those clouds?

The next sky shot from Mike, is what happens when it rains, then stops, then rains some more, then stops again, all that while the sun is trying to come out and we're treated to a rainbow. Or in the case of this photo, a double one. Another wonderful example of the beauty in the sky around these parts.

After an evening of swimming, wading and skipping stones in Lake Superior, recently, Mike and his family stopped to admire the darkening sky over Marquette, as the sun was going down. All the different hues that show up during this time of the evening is amazing. Again, ever changing from minute to minute, each one just as beautiful as the next. Mike also captured the lights of Marquette in the distance, with the freighter James R. Barker all lit up as it unloads coal under the Harbor lights. He snapped this one from the Picnic Rocks area.

So, there you have it, a quick, but beautiful study of the ever changing skies here in the North Country!

That has to be the most detailed rainbow I have ever seen...good shots.

Remembering my Grandma, who went home to be with the Lord while we were on our honeymoon, 27 years ago, and my Mom, her daughter, who died on our anniversary less than 10 years later.
