Marilyn Bachorik told me that they check out the Pasty Cam every day when they're back home in Dearborn, just dreaming of when they can get back to the Keweenaw again. Their four-legged family members, Izzy and Boomer seem to love it UP here, just as much as Marilyn and Dennis, do, with hiking in the woods, strolling along Lake Superior's shoreline, posing for photo ops and even looks to the boss, to see if it might be OK to go for a swim. So much for two active dogs to do UP North and so little time.

In case you don't know, Izzy and Boomer are Old English Sheep Dogs, known for their long, shaggy coat. I have to wonder, since we had a number of scorching hot days this week, whether a dog with a coat like this gets overheated even quicker when the humidity is high like it has been? I'm betting a thick layer of hair like that, can keep the bugs at bay, though, since they'd have a hard time getting through to bite the skin. Maybe Marilyn will chime in with some info about her beautiful critters. Inquiring minds want to know!

Nice doggies.

Awww...4-legged beauties, for sure!!

I have never seen this breed without their tails docked. I like the tails left on them! At our Vet clinic there is a Sheepadoodle, named Jersey. Then there was the kid show back in the day, Capt. Kangaroo and his Old English Sheepdog, Bee Bee.

Yeah, I remember Bee Bee! Our 'kids' loved Capt. Kangaroo ~ and so did I.;)

Nice Panda Bears, but where's the sheep? Sheep up or sheep out :-)

Hi, to answer the questions:
Yes, they do get really warm, but we try to keep their coats
combed out so they can "breathe." Yes, their coats really do
protect them from the bugs. I wish we'd had protection like
that these past two weeks!!
And I'm so glad you like their tails, Janie. We were lucky
enough to be able to ask their breeder not to cut their tails
off at 2 days old. We love them with their natural look.

I just added a pic of them with the world famous
thermometer to their Pasty album. We were all wishing it'd
been a whole lot cooler.

What beautiful dogs, Old English Sheepdogs are so loving and affectionate but can also be very protective.

The dogs are just beautiful. I really do love their natural tail look also!
