When Marsha Galbraith was UP North here at their cottage recently, they were making the drive into L'Anse and happened upon this line of Model A's in front of them. My first thought on the location was the south shore of Keweenaw Bay, just below the Bishop Baraga statue, but looking closer I realized it couldn't be. Marsha straightened me out on where they were taken... actually on the east shore of Keweenaw Bay, heading down the peninsula, past Pequaming and into L'Anse. It's so neat to see these restored vehicles driving the highways, taking you back in time for a moment.

Marsha sent the bottom two photos to accompany the other Model A shots, since the story behind the black one pictured, has connections to the Aura area near where these cars were spotted. It seems that this Model A was housed for years in a garage near the Galbraith's cottage and when the bigwigs at Ford got wind of it, they paid the owners so they could take it, fix it up and show it around the country and then returned to the present owners. The complete story is on the placard in the last photo. Thanks for taking us back to the 1930's for a moment, Marsha!

And WELCOME to everyone in the U.P. for Finn Fest 2013 !

The top picture, with the gull sailing overhead, is my new background photo. Outstanding.

These fine Model A cars..stirs the attic of of our world, the paraphernalia for those of us to use in dressing up our memories in the glittering garments of our imagination and memories!

The fourth photo is beautiful! As Henry Ford advertised ~ 'you could order any color Ford you wanted as long as it was black'.:->
My Daddy only drove Chevrolets...he referred to Fords as 'tin cans'.;)

I have always admired Henry Ford's vision. I like Fords up till WWII the best.

You'll enjoy FinnFest so much that you'll want to come back to Aura for the Aura Jamboree July 19 & 20! Two days of music under the trees and inside onstage!
