Today's shots are from a newcomer to submitting photos, but not a newcomer to the Pasty Cam, as he's been around posting notes for a number of years. Ryan Byykkonen was here UP North recently, visiting with family (that's his Mom, Judy and sister Ashley, in the 4th photo), when they decided a drive out to Jacobsville to check out the Lighthouse there was in order.

When they arrived on the grounds, they talked with the owner and made arrangements to go to the top of the Lighthouse to check out the view. I really like the shot Ryan took looking down from the tower, as it really shows you just how high off the ground you are when you're up there. The spiral staircase is another favorite and then the last photo, looking toward the Portage Lower Entry Light, rounds out my favorite three for the day.

This historic Lighthouse is more than just a great place to view Lake Superior from, though, as it is also a Bed and Breakfast, so you can stay right there and enjoy the scenery, while you unwind and relax at the Inn.

More great pictures, Judy. I've always wanted to go up there, but never have. Looks cold, though. Brrrrrrrr!!!!

Hope it's warm while we're UP there. We leave tomorrow, meeting Janie and Bob in Iron River, WI for lunch. Then 3 glorious days in the UP!! Don't know that we'll get to do much. Will depend on how much stuff my mom needs to get done. But at least we'll be there.

Happy Friday!

Being there is enough, isn't it Deb? Hope your Mom is doing well.

Great pictures from a different perspective! Outstanding view from up there...... can't get enough of the lighthouse pictures.

Hi
I was once temporarily locked in the tower of the Au Sable Point lighthouse in the Pictured Rocks national lakshore. The lighthouse was having some renovations done. Our tour group went up in the tower right before the workmen knocked off for lunch; they locked all the doors including the one to the tower stairs. Fortunately they were still in earshot when we found the problem and came back in response to our cries. Kind of my UP Rapunzel moment.

I'd never make it to the top.:<

Capt Paul, the drive through the Ouachita
mountains was great.lots of heavy rain north of
Houston. 75 mph limit was nice.

I agree with JBuck - I can't get enough lighthouse pictures, either! The angle on the first one looks somewhat similar to Pt Betsie on Lake Michigan. And Shirley, I could never get off the ground to climb that one, I agree, so many thanks to Ryan for his great photos! Deb S and Mr Deb, I hope you all have a good trip UP north, and I hope the weather cooperates, at least somewhat.

The lighthouse is beautiful, 2.

My brother and I used to climb up there when we were kids, before it was privately owned as a residence. Always enjoyed the view. I guess there is a fee for the tour now If the people have time.

We've climbed Split Rock, Eagle Harbor and Copper Harbor lighthouses. I have such a fascination with them. Can never get enough of them.

And yes, jbuck, being there is usually enough. But I do like to get out and see some sights, too!
