Last week we had a look at the night sky in the Marquette area. Today we have a follow-up from Jeremy Rowe, who was out capturing some of the dancing lights and stars over Lake Superior, near Sedar Bay. That's him and his dog Angel in the second photo. You have to look closely to spot Angel... she's off to the right of Jeremy and a little ahead of him. (Sedar Bay more recently appears on the map as Cedar Bay)

How often we rush from place to place and don't even think to look up at the wonders in the sky above us. Of course the spectacle is more beautiful away from the city lights and especially when it's on display over the Big Lake. Make sure you take some time to stop and gaze at the stars, it's good for whatever ails you.

Thanks Jeremy, for stopping the lights and stars in their place, so we all get to gaze at them together.

I know what you mean, Mary. I've noticed that since I've gotten older, I find that looking at the sky just amazes me. It definitely makes you realize there's something larger out there than we are.

Thanks for sharing these!

I agree Mary & Deb, as each year comes and goes I have stopped and notice the wonders of Nature. It also makes me wish I had more talks with my parents and grandparents when I had the chances.

Stunning photos, Jeremy. Thank you! Can you tell us a little about what kind of camera, lens, and exposure settings you used?

By Les Henriksen (Lesh) on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 - 09:33 am:

You don't suppose the reason that people who grew up in country settings where they could actually see the sky at night are far more rational than those who grew up in cities where they're barely aware that a sky exists, do you??

I can hardly wait to get to the U.P. this weekend so that I can stare
up at the heavens and be amazed. Thanks, Jeremy.

Isn't a Holstein something you strap on your hip to keep your gun in?
