Even though it's Spring here in the Keweenaw, the snow hasn't stopped yet. So even when we have a few warmer days in the upper 30's and the snow begins to melt, we've been getting a fresh dumping to replace what's disappeared and then some.

Barb Bouwkamp shows us the streets of Laurium and what they look like just after the plow has opened them up after the heavy, wet stuff, we've been getting. It all sticks together, making large chunks of snow along the sides of the road, as there's nowhere left to put it with the banks so high already.

Speaking of high banks...Barb's last photo shows a pile of snow that is just about "sky high" and doesn't look like it will be going anywhere too soon. I'm guessing that whoever blew the snow up that high, cannot add any more to it, as the snowblower probably can't throw it much higher than it is right now. It looks like there are some footprints on the hill, too, probably someone claiming to be "king of the hill". One thing I know, is that Calumet/Laurium is definitely the "king of the snow" around these parts.

What a snowpile! I was at Tech during the winter of 78-79, which I think still holds the record for the most snow accumulation. But I don't remember how long into April the snow persisted. We even had snow in the air here in West Michigan last night.

On another note, last fall I set a goal of jumping into Lake Michigan every month of the year, and through the winter I did it. I figured April wouldn't even need to be on the list, because usually by now we have brave souls wading in at the local beaches. I was looking out there this morning and noted it's probably gonna be just as shocking as January! Stay warm!

Oh my! That's still a lot of snow! We had a taste of that one winter in N.D., didn't see the ground until some time in May!
LOL, that's funny, Charlie.:-)

That is awesome! Didnt get that much around Marquette (maybe 4-8 inches).
April showers from the frozen food section! And still no bugs!

Here in my part of Illinois we are having record floods. Evacuations, roads closed unbelieveable water. Thank God I am high and dry.

I had a good chuckle over the pics today. This has gotten to the point where we have to laugh.

I hope you guys get to see the ground sometime soon. We have green grass down here in ROchester Hills. But we did have snow 'flurries' last night. Nothing like what you have.
