That's right, this was the scene in Traprock Valley this past Monday morning. Judy Byykkonen snapped these snowy shots, to show everyone what Spring in the Valley looks like this year. It's beautiful, yes, but it would be more beautiful in January. Judy noted that there are no birds there feasting on her crabapple tree. She figured they took a look around and headed back south for a while, until things begin to thaw out here UP North.

I think I speak for the majority of the U.P. residents, when I say that we're ready for it to warm up and begin looking green again, but according to our forecast, we may have a little more coming for the weekend. I guess winter isn't over until Mother Nature says it's over

Interesting that with all the cold & snowy weather that the critters haven't cleaned off the fruit. Seems they'd be getting pretty hungry at this stage of the game!

So, will this cold April delay the fly season this year?

Mary and Judy, too bad I can't send some of our weather UP there to you....it's 60F out my backdoor this morning, with sunshine for now...supposed to get stormy weather moving in later.:<
Beautiful photos anyway, Judy!

So, are the ski resorts still open?

By lookielu (Eyeswideshut) on Wednesday, April 10, 2013 - 12:09 pm:

April 16 1997, we were still getting snow and had over 4 feet of snow on the ground in our yard in Dollar Bay. Ground didnt melt and thaw until nearly memorial day.

It's been raining and cold here in the Grand Rapids area since Sunday and is expected to continue into next week with only a short break this weekend. I like the way you put it, Judy - "it isn't over until Mother Nature says it's over".

That's Grand Rapids, MI - I didn't realize that people from other states post here. I'm kinda new here so don't know if I'm using the appropriate forum for posting as the site says above. Please forgive any inappropriateness (is that a word?) on my part.

It looks to me like Old Man Winter is hoarding in on Mother Nature. I wonder what Father Time has to say about this?

By Paul Roberts (Grizzlyadams) on Wednesday, April 10, 2013 - 06:35 pm:

PS. Judy, I would say nice shots (they are) but I'm sure you're wishing a) the berries were gone and Eric was over moving your lawn b) there were birds in your yard with the sounds of spring. It is coming! Let's hope that by the time I arrive at the end of May it's gone (for your sake...more for your sanity) :-)

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Wednesday, April 10, 2013 - 07:14 pm:

Oh my, Judy! I knew you guys had gotten snow, but it's getting to be ridiculous! We're supposed to be getting a nasty storm overnight. They received 25 inches in Rapid City, SD by what I understand and it's headed this way. Can't say I'm eager for that.

Very nice pictures, though!

Here in NW Illinoi it's been raining off and on in downpours since yesterday. The north wind is ferocious and biting. But a few of my hardy plants are greening up, like the yarrow. There's even some flash flooding not far away. Think I'll wait on raking the flower bed for a while. Thank goodness all the snow is gone even in the ditches.

Hei Deb,
Glad to see you back on the pastycam again.
Sorry to hear about your Mom, hope she is alright. It's a big concern being so far from
her. Mimi's Mom was in Calumet and she was in
Lansing.

My shoulder got sore shoveling heavy wet snow at my job.
