Good morning everyone!

By Charlie at Pasty Central (Chopper) on Sunday, April 7, 2013 - 11:06 pm:

Trying a bit of an experiment on today's Cam Notes. Would be interested to know if the video above works for you (instead of our usual 'Big Picture').

Cousin Jack Foster has passed on now, but he still graces the face of our Pasty Dough gift certificate, and we're discovering a few videos like the one above, relating the history of Calumet and Hecla, and the Copper Country in general.

Cousin Jack
Sorry for the delay on today's Shoebox Memory. Looks like we will still keep our record intact on never missing a daily update since we began in 1998.

Side note: Congratulations to the Keweenaw Storm, the local Women's Hockey team from Calumet. This weekend they defeated all opponents except the last, to end up as Runners' Up in the National USA Hockey Women's Championship (for 19-and-under). The Copper Country is still shining.

Have a good week :o)

Glad that you made it in time tonight, Charlie!!

I do think the video is a great idea for a change of pace. It plays fine for me, and was very interesting.

Charlie the video is awesome. I had family working the mines.

Works for me.

By Pat & Glenda (Gormfrog) on Monday, April 8, 2013 - 07:44 am:

Nice touch for "Shoebox Memory", comes through just fine....a new shaft to mine for Pasty Central!

Masterful storytelling. The video and audio worked like a
charm. I'm using a laptop with a wireless connection.

In a few weeks, when Greenfield Village opens for the
season, I'll take a ride on their locomotive train. It's pulled
by Torch Lake #3 and lettered Calumet-Hecla Mining
Company.

Video worked without skipping a beat. Fascinating details on a subject I thought I was familiar with.

My Adobe Flash player's not working.:-<

By sometimesyooper (Nancyd) on Monday, April 8, 2013 - 09:59 am:

worked well for me. I miss the photos though.

By D. A. (Midwested) on Monday, April 8, 2013 - 11:12 am:

I'm at work and our "All seeing - All knowing"
firewall blocks most video content, just as it did
here, this morning.

I'm sure it will work from home later tonight.

The What's Up Flash feature still works OK.

By E. Neil Harri (Ilmayksi) on Monday, April 8, 2013 - 05:03 pm:

Jack was a friend of mine and always a great storyteller.
Video works fine on my iPhone.

By Roger Somero (Rsomero) on Monday, April 8, 2013 - 08:05 pm:

Works great on my iPad. Couldn't get the other to run. Like this
much better.
